Forgetting a password happens to everyone. The A9Play recovery process is designed to be quick if you have your verified phone number, and still possible if you don't.

Standard recovery (with verified phone)

  1. Open the A9Today app or visit a9playmy8.com
  2. Tap LoginForgot Password
  3. Enter your registered username or email
  4. Choose your verified phone number from the list
  5. You'll receive an OTPQ verification code
  6. Enter the code, then set a new password
  7. Log in with your new password

The whole process takes 60-90 seconds.

Security note: The OTPQ code is sent to the phone number registered on your account, not the phone you're recovering from. This is intentional — it prevents anyone with physical access to your device from resetting your password.

If you've also lost access to your phone

If you can't receive the OTPQ code (lost phone, changed number, etc.), you'll need to use one of your saved backup codes:

  1. On the recovery screen, tap Use backup code
  2. Enter one of the 10 backup codes from your OTPQ setup
  3. Each backup code works only once — cross it off your list after use
  4. Set a new password

If you've lost everything

If you don't have your phone AND don't have your backup codes, contact A9Play support:

  • Open a support ticket through the contact form on a9playmy8.com
  • Provide as much account information as you can: registered email, approximate registration date, last login date, transaction history if known
  • The support team will verify your identity through alternate means (this can take 1-3 business days)
  • Once verified, support can reset your password and re-register your device
Important: Never share your password, OTPQ codes, or backup codes with anyone — including someone claiming to be A9Play support. Real support staff will never ask for these.

Preventing this next time

A few habits make password recovery effortless:

  • Use a password manager. Apps like Bitwarden (free) or 1Password generate and remember strong passwords for you.
  • Save your OTPQ backup codes. Write them down and store them somewhere safe — a wallet, safe deposit box, or password manager note.
  • Keep your registered phone number current. If you change phone numbers, update it in A9Play settings before deactivating the old number.
  • Verify a secondary contact method. Adding a backup email helps support verify your identity faster.
